“Personal and professional growth accelerates when we challenge ourselves.”
Marina, Sr. Managing Director, discusses her career path at Guggenheim and a great piece of career advice that she received.I am a Senior Managing Director in the Structured Products Origination group within the Investment Banking division of Guggenheim Securities. Our group originates, structures, and places structured debt instruments across a variety of asset classes, mainly "non-traditional" or so-called "esoteric" assets, with a particular focus on advising first-time or newer issuers in the capital markets.
I joined Guggenheim Securities in 2013 with several colleagues in the Structured Products and Consumer & Retail groups who had previously worked together with me at other financial services firms. Today, I can say that I have had the rare and wonderful opportunity to work with this same core group of bankers for my entire career. On the Structured Products side, we believed that our differentiated, non-traditional asset-focused franchise was better suited for an independent platform, rather than subsumed within a capital-intensive securitization group focused on commoditized consumer assets at a large bank. I was particularly drawn to Guggenheim Securities for the crystalline vision senior leadership had for the organization, even in its earliest days, and it has been exciting to spend the past decade here watching that vision become reality.
One great piece of advice came from my boss who has always encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone. Personal and professional growth accelerates when we challenge ourselves to push our limits and explore new directions. Another related piece of advice comes from my favorite Peloton instructor, who likes to say, "We are meant to do hard things." She is right!
